Grander® rum Debuts Two New Bourbon-Barrel Aged Rums in the US

Orlando, FL (PRUnderground) October 2nd, 2017 – Dan DeHart, the founder of the boutique Grander® Rum brand, announced that it will be releasing two new bourbon-barrel aged expressions – Grander® 12-Year-Old and Grander® Single Barrel.

“We believe it is time for the U.S. consumer to get introduced to well-crafted aged rum that sits comfortably next to the best whiskeys,” said DeHart. “Many consumers tend to think of rums as overly sweetened or only meant for mixing, but we are ready to change this perception.

“Grander® Rums are the product of one producer, from the sugar cane to bottling, and we age in ex-bourbon barrels,” continued DeHart. “We do not use coloring, flavoring or sweeteners, leaving you to savor the quality and authenticity of these world-class spirits.”

The award-winning brand introduced its unadulterated bourbon-barrel aged Grander® 8-Year-Old rum to the market and took home the gold at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, along with a 92 rating at The Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2016. Grander® Rum is available exclusively in FL, GA, IL, KY, TN, and TX.

Grander® 12-Year-Old Rum is a beautiful marriage of carefully selected barrels that deliver an exquisite balance of smoothness and complexity. The Panamanian rum has been aged for a minimum of 12 full years in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 90 proof (45 percent ABV).

The extra four years of maturation in the tropical Panamanian climate delivers unique nutty flavors of toasted almond and nutmeg, imparting more density and nuances than the eight-year-old and is meant to be savored neat or over ice.

Grander® Single Barrel Rum is a limited release that has aged for a minimum of eight years in ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at cask strength and non-chill filtered. While Grander® 8 Year Old is a marriage of a small number of barrels and bottled at 45 percent ABV, the single barrel is just that – bottled at cask strength.

“We had a number of retailers ask for this and we delivered,” said DeHart. “Each barrel is a unique expression of Grander® 8 Year Old that was personally selected by the participating retailer,” said DeHart. “This is an extremely limited product with less than 1,500 750ml bottles produced.”

The new bourbon-barrel aged Grander® 12-Year-Old and Grander® Single Barrel aged rum provide novices and spirit connoisseurs with exciting options, each with its own unique flavor notes that’s sure to bring more awards and accolades to the boutique rum brand.

Climate change: a new rum from Scotland

Strathearn Distillery recently launched a new rum called Dunedin Golden Rum. According to their website this is “probably the first Scottish golden rum for over 100 years”.

Dunedin Golden Rum “has a bold fruity nose with notes of dark chocolate. A complex blend of sweet vanilla and spicy flavours gives way to burnt sugar and caramel with an oaky finish”.

Although this probably is an aged rum, it doesn’t carry an age statement. Bottled at 43% abv, Dunedin Golden Rum is available at Strathearn Distillery’s webshop.

Havana Club launches new super-premium rum

FROM THE PRESS RELEASE:

Havana Club, the global leading rum in the super-premium and above category, is to launch the Havana Club Tributo Collection on the 29th February 2016, with packaging designed by Nude Brand Creation.

The new series of limited editions created with exceptional rum reserves are set to be unveiled annually at the Cuban Habanos Festival.

A rum for collectors and connoisseurs

With only 2,500 bottles of each rum being released, the Havana Club Tributo Collection is set to appeal to spirits connoisseurs and collectors alike. As a tribute to the best that Cuban rum has to offer, Havana Club Maestro Ronero, Asbel Morales, will personally select the finest aged bases from cellar reserves to create each release.

The 2016 limited edition is led by a base of rums aged in 80-year old casks, which have been carefully blended with other rums to give an aromatic and intense taste with defining notes of dried tropical fruits and a deep amber colour.

Inspired by Cuba’s architecture

Co-founder of Nude Brand Creation, Bernard Gormley, says: “The packaging was inspired by the wide variety of architectural styles in Cuba, in particular the Spanish baroque and the neoclassical, which complement each other so perfectly, just like the blend of different rums selected to make the product. The filigree and detailing intrigued us and influenced the graphics, along with the colour blue – the national colour of Cuba, and gold that enhance the luxury cues and on-shelf standout.”

Continues Gormley: “The background pattern on the bottle label and gift pack was inspired by the ceramic tiles found in walkways, walls and floors of Havana.  The signature of Maestro Ronero Asbel Morales and the individual number of each bottle is displayed on the intricate premium label.”

Asbel Morales, Maestro Ronero for Havana Club, comments: “Creating the Havana Club Tributo Collection is a fascinating process, as each release will provide a new and unique taste experience, achieved through experimentation with rum bases from our reserves.

“By blending rums using very old and rare casks, we have been able to create an expression for 2016 with a luxurious amber glow, full-bodied fruit flavours and a long finish.”

The Havana Club Tributo Collection 2016 is bottled at 40% ABV and will be available in ten markets, including Cuba, UK and China, from March 2016 at the RRP of $350 USD.
