The distillery moved from Cuba to the Dominican Republic ic in 1960, following the Cuban revolution. The original distillery was founded in Cuba 1820, It is unclear if there is anything left of the original Vizcaya distillery. Nowadays, Vizcaya is used as a brand name for a blended rum by the people at Oliver & Oliver. It's supposedly made in the French style, so from fresh sugarcane juice, and mature in bourbon and sherry barrels. To the best of our knowledge it is a blend of rums sourced from Trinidad and Tobag
